From May 21 to 23, 2025, a delegation from the joint-stock company “Uzavtosanoat” conducted a working visit to the Italian Republic. During the visit, important meetings, negotiations, and business events were held, aimed at developing cooperation in the automotive industry, introducing innovative technologies, and implementing investment projects.
One of the key events of the visit was a meeting with the Mayor of Turin, Stefano Lo Russo. During the meeting, the parties discussed further development of cooperation in the field of mechanical engineering. An initiative was proposed to organize joint forums on a regular annual basis, with a proposal to hold the next forum in Tashkent. In addition, a preliminary agreement was reached to hold a business forum in Uzbekistan in 2026, involving industrial companies from Turin.
On May 23, a business forum titled “New Opportunities for Cooperation Between Italy and the Republic of Uzbekistan in the Automotive Industry” was held in Turin in cooperation with the Union of Industrial Enterprises of Turin. The event was attended by representatives of more than 120 Italian companies. The “Uzavtosanoat” delegation gave presentations and held B2B meetings with leading companies such as Webasto, Magna, Marelli, Sogefi, Pininfarina, and others. During the meetings, participants discussed the localization of automotive components production in Uzbekistan and the implementation of joint projects.
To advance these initiatives with Italian partners, working groups were formed. An agreement was also reached to organize a visit of Italian company representatives to Uzbekistan in the near future.
Special attention during the visit was given to cooperation in the fields of education and science. The “Uzavtosanoat” delegation held talks with Stefano Paolo Corgnati, the rector of the Turin Polytechnic University (POLITO). At the conclusion of the meeting, a cooperation agreement for the 2025/2026 academic year was signed. The agreement provides for the implementation of joint educational programs, the involvement of Italian instructors, academic support, and the awarding of internationally recognized diplomas.
An agreement was also reached on the allocation of grant funds through Italy’s Green Fund to implement an innovative project aimed at introducing hydrogen-fueled public transport and developing the necessary infrastructure.
This working visit once again confirmed the strong mutual interest between Uzbekistan and Italy in expanding cooperation in industry, education, and sustainable technologies, and marked another significant step toward strengthening strategic partnership between the two countries.
