Despite a noticeable increase in the import of passenger cars to Uzbekistan, the Chevrolet brand continues to hold the top position in car sales in the country. According to consolidated data, in 2023, the brand increased sales by 31% compared to the previous year, selling 369,980 vehicles on the domestic market. However, even with such significant growth, the local manufacturer was unable to maintain its market share, which decreased from 90.6% to 81.9% over the year.
Kia ranked second with a market share of 3.3%, followed by Chery in third place (2.1%) and the Chinese brand BYD in fourth place (2%), which focuses on electric and hybrid vehicles—models that are becoming increasingly popular in the Uzbek market. The market share of Hyundai, whose sales dropped significantly due to the cessation of car assembly from kits previously supplied from Russia, decreased tenfold compared to last year, down to 0.2%.
Seven Chevrolet models are in the top ten best-selling cars. The top five, in descending order, are: Damas (including Labo), Cobalt, Lacetti, Tracker, and Onix, all of which are locally produced. The sixth spot was taken by the Chinese BYD Song Plus. The seventh spot went to the Chery Tiggo 7 PRO crossover, followed by Kia Sportage in eighth. The ninth and tenth positions were filled by two more Chevrolet models—Malibu and Equinox.
The second ten best-sellers were as follows: Kia K5, locally assembled Chevrolet Nexia, Kia Seltos and Sorento, BYD Chasor, Chevrolet Spark, Chery Arrizo and Tiggo 8 PRO, Kia Bongo, and Volkswagen Caddy.
